Privacy Policy

Stridelands is a virtual fitness journey app owned by Valya AI Corp. It was called Farwalk before September 2026. The name changed; the promise did not: Stridelands never asks for your location, and the developer never receives your data.

Data on your device

Stridelands reads from Apple Health only with your permission, and only these things:

• your workouts, with their activity type, dates, duration and distance;
• distance statistics for supported activities;
• active energy burned (calories) for each workout;
• details a workout already carries: elevation gained, the weather temperature and humidity recorded with it, and whether it was indoors or outdoors.

It does not read heart rate, health profile details or workout routes, and it never asks for your real location. Declining Health access, or declining any single item, is allowed; the app shows what it can.

The app stores journeys, workout details, notes, settings and virtual places on your device. Manual workouts are saved locally. Only the explicit Health-writing setting asks permission to save manual workouts to Apple Health, and a failed Health write does not remove the local entry. You can change Health permissions in the Health app. Apple controls its Health services independently.

Health data is used only to show journey progress, workout details and related features in the app. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, never shared with third parties or data brokers, and never stored in iCloud by Stridelands. Calories and the other workout details never appear in exports.

Local data stays on your device until you delete it or remove the app. Deleting a journey removes its route, places, custom stops, photos and moments; your workouts stay in Stridelands and Apple Health. Workouts deleted from Apple Health stop counting toward your journeys.

Backups. The database holding your journeys and workouts is excluded from iCloud Backup and computer backups, because it contains workout data. Restoring a new iPhone from a backup does not bring it back; workouts are read again from Apple Health, and journey plans return only if you use iCloud plan sync. Custom waypoint photos, a few settings (such as your map layer choice) and your "Your weather" town are included in your own device backups under Apple's controls. The developer cannot access any backup.

Custom waypoint photos stay in the app's documents directory. Stridelands re-encodes selected photos to remove original metadata; it does not request access to your photo library to read it. Widgets receive a small journey display snapshot through a shared local container, without the workout records.

Your weather (optional)

You can type a town to see its weekly forecast next to the forecast at your virtual position. This is the only real place Stridelands knows, and only because you typed it; the app never uses GPS or location services. The town's name and coordinate are stored on this device only, never in iCloud and never in exports. While you search, Apple Maps receives what you type. To show the forecast, Apple Weather receives the town's coordinate, at most about once an hour. "Remove your town" deletes it and its forecast.

Network services

Apple Maps receives virtual places for:

• road directions between the places you choose, and through the towns of a famous journey;
• place search;
• map imagery, including 3D terrain and, when you turn it on, businesses and other points of interest;
• the place card for a business you tap;
• the name of the town nearest your virtual position (reverse geocoding);
• Look Around street imagery;
• postcard and video map snapshots.

Apple Weather receives your virtual position, and your "Your weather" town if you added one, to show current weather and a weekly forecast. Wikipedia receives virtual coordinates and article titles to discover and show places; it receives no workout records. Articles open in an in-app Safari view. Loading article images and pages contacts their hosting services. All of these providers can receive normal network information such as your IP address, and their own privacy policies apply.

Elevation profiles use public Mapzen Terrain Tiles hosted by AWS Open Data. Requests identify map tiles along your virtual route; no workout records are sent. Decoded tiles are cached in memory, and the finished profile stays on your device. Data credits and licence links appear with the elevation chart.

Optional iCloud plan sync requires Plus and is off until you turn it on. It stores journey names, chosen endpoints, route geometry, planning dates and custom stop titles, notes and virtual coordinates in your private iCloud database. Workouts, workout details, calculated progress, completion and visited state, workout assignments, milestones, waypoint photos and your weather town stay on the device. Each device calculates progress from its own workouts. An iCloud account change pauses sync; plans already bound to the old account are not uploaded to the new one automatically.

iCloud retention and deletion

Turning sync off keeps the data on this device and stops uploads. It does not by itself remove data already in iCloud, and neither does removing the app.

To remove it, use "Delete iCloud journey data" in the iCloud journey plans section of Stridelands' Settings. After you confirm, Stridelands turns sync off on this device and deletes all of its journey plan and custom stop data from your private iCloud database. Journeys, workouts and progress on this device are kept. Turn iCloud sync off on your other devices first; otherwise a device that still has sync on can upload journeys that were not yet in iCloud. Journeys it had already synced are not uploaded again. If you turn sync on again later on any device, its journeys are uploaded again as new.

Deleting a single journey also removes its iCloud copy. If sync is off or you are offline, the copy is removed the next time sync runs, before anything is downloaded, so the journey does not come back. Other devices keep their own copy until you delete it there too.

You can also remove Stridelands' iCloud data in the iPhone Settings app: tap your name, then iCloud, then open iCloud storage management and select Stridelands.

Purchases, exports, videos and notifications

Apple processes purchases and restores. Stridelands checks purchase entitlements; it never receives your payment card information.

Sharing is always started by you. CSV and Markdown exports omit names, email addresses, identifiers, source app names, notes, place names, coordinates, calories and other workout details, and anything about how the app works. Dates are optional and off by default. Shared postcards contain only distance and progress. No export is sent to an AI service by Stridelands. GPX is an explicit exception to the coordinate rule: it shares the virtual route, stops and current virtual position with generic labels, and omits dates, names, notes, identifiers and workout records.

Journey videos. With Plus you can make a short video of a journey replay. It is made on your iPhone and kept in the app's temporary storage until you tap Share video or Save to Photos. A video shows the virtual route on an Apple map, names and Apple street or map pictures of places along it, the journey's name, workout dates, activity types and distances, progress along the route, the app name and an Apple Maps credit. It never contains your name, your real location, the apps or devices that recorded your workouts, workout or stop notes, your custom stops' names or photos (they appear as "Your own stop"), or file metadata. Saving to Photos asks only for permission to add; Stridelands never reads your photo library. Because a video shows your workout dates and distances, share it only with people you want to see them.

Notifications are local and optional. Stridelands includes no advertising, tracking, third-party analytics, account system or developer-operated server. The developer does not receive your workouts.

Background activity

With Health permission, Stridelands may check for new workouts in the background (HealthKit background delivery and background app refresh) so progress stays current. This happens on your device. You can turn off Background App Refresh for Stridelands in iOS Settings; workouts then sync when you open the app.

Children

Stridelands is not directed at children. The developer collects no personal information from anyone and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Control and contact

You can delete a journey, exclude a workout, turn off optional Health writing or notifications, remove your weather town, and remove the app to remove its local data. Removing the app does not remove data already in iCloud; see "iCloud retention and deletion". Apple Health copies remain under your control in Health; removing Stridelands does not delete them.

Changes to this policy
